About This Journey

Trip Overview

Island Peak Climbing via Gokyo Lakes & Cho La Pass
Conquer one of the most famous trekking peaks in the Everest region on our Island Peak Climbing via Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass expedition. This ultimate Himalayan mountaineering package takes an adventurous path through the Khumbu, combining the beautiful turquoise waters of Gokyo Lakes, the Cho La Pass, and a classic trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) with the high-altitude ascent of Island Peak (Imja Tse) at 6,189 M / 20,305 ft.
A Legendary High-Altitude Circuit :
Your journey kicks off in the bustling Sherpa trading hub of Namche Bazaar before veering away from the standard crowded trails into the pristine Gokyo Valley. Navigating the Gokyo Lakes trek route ensures an excellent, progressive acclimatization profile as you scale Gokyo Ri to witness unmatched views of Mount Everest and the massive Ngozumpa Glacier. From there, you will tackle the steep, rocky scramble across Cho La Pass (5,420 M / 17,782 ft) before descending into the main valley to stand at Everest Base Camp and watch the sunrise from Kala Patthar.
The Alpine Challenge of Imja Tse:
Leaving the classic trekking trails behind, you will venture deep into the spectacular Imja Valley toward Island Peak Base Camp. The summit push offers an authentic mountaineering experience, requiring you to navigate a rugged moraine, strap on crampons for a thrilling glacier crossing, and scale an iconic, near-vertical snow headwall using fixed ropes. Reaching the narrow summit ridge places you directly in front of the colossal South Face of Lhotse, surrounded by an arena of giants including Ama Dablam, Makalu, and Baruntse.
Who is this Adventure For?:
This comprehensive Island Peak climbing itinerary is perfectly tailored for ambitious trekkers ready to transition into basic mountaineering.
