About This Journey

Trip Overview

A Full Camping Trek Package is a completely supported trekking arrangement where a dedicated crew travels with you throughout the route. The team takes care of tents, meals, kitchen setup, luggage support, and campsite management. You do not need to depend on finding accommodation or food along the trail, which is important in areas where villages are far apart.

The Lower Dolpo Trek is an extraordinary journey into one of Nepal’s most remote and untouched Himalayan regions. Hidden in the rain-shadow of the Himalayas, Lower Dolpo offers a remarkable combination of dramatic mountain landscapes, turquoise lakes, ancient Buddhist culture, remote villages and rugged high-altitude trails.

The adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu towards the remote Dolpo region, followed by days of trekking through the wilderness of Shey Phoksundo National Park. The trail leads through deep valleys, pine and juniper forests, traditional villages and high mountain passes, revealing a side of Nepal far removed from the country’s more crowded trekking routes.

One of the highlights of the journey is Phoksundo Lake, famous for its extraordinary deep-blue and turquoise waters surrounded by towering cliffs. Nearby Ringmo Village, with its traditional Tibetan-influenced architecture and Buddhist heritage, provides a fascinating glimpse into the unique culture of Dolpo.

The trek also takes you across challenging high passes, including Numa La Pass (5360m), and Baga la Pass (5170m),  where spectacular Himalayan panoramas unfold across the remote valleys. Along the way, you may encounter yak and sheep caravans, ancient monasteries, chortens, mani walls and prayer flags that reflect the centuries-old traditions of the region.

Lower Dolpo is not only about spectacular scenery. It is an opportunity to experience authentic Himalayan life and wilderness in a region where traditional ways of living remain closely connected to the mountains. The area is also known for its diverse wildlife, with possibilities of seeing blue sheep, Himalayan tahr and, with exceptional luck, the elusive snow leopard.

With its remote trails, high mountain passes, pristine landscapes and distinctive Tibetan Buddhist culture, the Lower Dolpo Trek is an ideal adventure for trekkers looking for solitude, wilderness and a truly off-the-beaten-path experience in Nepal.

Lower Dolpo Trek is a journey for those who want to go beyond the famous trekking routes and discover the wild, mysterious and culturally rich heart of the Nepal Himalayas.
